At Barnett Confectioners Ltd, we take pride in being a family-run business that has been crafting quality sweets for over five generations. Established in 1896 in Nottingham, England, our rich heritage has shaped us into a beloved name in the confectionery industry.

Our sweets are made using traditional methods that have been passed down through the years. Each candy is lovingly handcrafted in open copper pans, and we still use some of the original recipes that have stood the test of time. This commitment to craftsmanship ensures that every piece of confectionery we produce maintains the unique flavours and quality that our customers have come to cherish.

The story of Barnett Confectioners began with our great-grandfather, Richard Barnett, who set up the business in 1896. Registered as R. Barnett & Co. Ltd. on November 2nd, 1909, our legacy continued uninterrupted even during challenging times, such as World War I when the business remained operational due to Richard's exemption from national service.

Over the years, our product range has evolved. Prior to 1926, our popular cough sweet 'Barnips' was known as 'Winter Nips', and many of our original products have remained favorites among our customers. In the 1930s, we expanded our offerings with a variety of wrapped sweets, some of which are still part of our lineup today, including 'Lung Tablets', now affectionately referred to as 'Lun Jeelers', and 'Sherbet Bon-Bons', which we now call 'Sherbons'.

World War II brought about challenges with sugar rationing that limited our production to mainly medicated sweets. However, post-war recovery saw a surge in demand for confectionery, and we embraced this opportunity by investing in new machinery—some of which we still use today!

In 1979, we made a short move from Hartley Road to our current home on Stansfield Street, where our dedication to quality continued to flourish. The 1980s brought about a transition in leadership and a shift in market demand, yet our passion for confectionery remains unwavering.
